Gone are the days of funeral and memorial services only being performed in churches and chapels.
Of course, these are still great options for many families. They are purpose built facilities, with adequate seating, AV facilities and can often offer on-site catering. For some, this is perfect – but for others, they don’t feel right.
For sports fans, the local club may be an option. For ocean lovers, perhaps a surf club – or the headland, overlooking the water. Private halls owned by community groups and local councils can provide great, low cost spaces.
More and more reception venues, traditionally used for weddings ,are opening their doors for families to hire as funeral spaces, and after service catering. The stigma is being lifted as we speak. The community is embracing life celebrations at every stage of life. Why shouldn’t we honour your loved one in an environment that held special significance for them – or that simply feels better.
