Funeral Readings

We often turn to poetry to say the things we want to say, more eloquently than we can, ourselves.

Poetry and readings can help us transition from one part of the service to the next.

Reading a poem can give somebody a job to do, if they need one. It can be used to illustrate the personality of the deceased, or to express the sense of loss.

You might also like to look at the deceased’s favourite books or movies for passages to be read. The words of a favourite song can be read in the same way. The topic of the reading does not need to be sad. You might choose to read a passage from a favourite book that simply evokes a happy memory of your loved one, or something that was important to them.

Ask me for some readings and poetry that have featured in some of my services. Perhaps they’ll also feel good to you.
